Abdullah Papur
Abdullah Papur (1945-1989) was a Kurdish-Alevi singer of traditional music. Born in Divriği in the Turkish province of Sivas, he learnet to play saz when young, In the late 1980s he was arrested because of his political song "Gardiyan" and sentenced to two years in prison. In prison he wrote many songs. He went on to work with such musicians as Aşık Mahzuni Şerif and Muhlis Akarsu worked. In 1989 he died in a traffic accident. His son Ercan Papur is also a famous singer and musician.
